The Grand Rapids Community College men’s basketball team was defeated on Saturday by Macomb Community College 69-77.
Max Prendergast recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Jeff Drake-Todd lead the team with 19 points and three steals. Arthur Pearson finished with 16 points and five assists. Zach Pangborn added nine points.
“Macomb played a 40 minute game,” said Coach Luke Bronkema. “They played well all through the stretch. We had a couple two to four minute stretches that we didn’t do very well. A stretch in the first half and in the second half. We weren’t very patient on our shots and our turnovers led to fast breaks for Macomb.”
GRCC shot 41 percent from the field and just 55 percent from the free throw line.
“We need to improve our shot selection, being patient, and our free throws,” said Bronkema. “That was a really good team. Playing well for 40 minutes and not having any lapses is what would have beat that team.”
GRCC’s next game is at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 7 against Hope College JV at the Ford Fieldhouse.
