Today, the Grand Rapids Community College’s Foundation will be hosting it’s 11th annual SCHOLARfest.
This event is a GRCC Foundation annual fundraising event. This year, Judge Sara J. Smolenski of the 63rd District Court and 1977 GRCC graduate, will be honored.
“We chose to honor Judge Smolenski this year because she is the perfect example of how GRCC alumni make a difference in our community,” said Executive Director of the GRCC Foundation, Kathryn Mullins.
SCHOLARfest was established in 2007 to help raise money for scholarships for the GRCC Secchia Institute for Culinary Arts. Now SCHOLARfest is able to raise money for all students. All of the proceeds for this event will help benefit student scholarships.
“SCHOLARfest is our way of honoring a community member for their commitment to GRCC and the commitment to our community,” Mullins said. “SCHOLARfest is the event on campus that allows us to celebrate an individual’s contribution to the college and our community while also showcasing GRCC and the students we serve. Most importantly, we do all of this while raising dollars for student scholarships.”
The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at DeVos Place with a special dinner featuring live music by the Yellow Brick Road Dueling Pianos.
