Lotion smeared on GRCC employee’s car in GRCC’s Ramp A
On Thursday Sept. 14, at 7:13 a.m., the Grand Rapids Community College Police Department was dispatched to 140 Bostwick Ave NE (GRCC Parking Ramp A Level 1) for MDOP to a vehicle that occurred. Dispatch reported that the victim called to report that when she left work, she found her vehicle to have what appeared to be glue smeared all over it. GRCC PD proceeded to the scene.
When GRCC PD arrived on the scene, they met with the victim near her vehicle, which was parked in Ramp A, Level 1, in the middle section near the employee exit. The victim stated that when she returned from lunch around 2 p.m. and parked in Ramp A. When she came back to her vehicle at 5:05 p.m., she found it covered in a white substance. She said she did not know of anyone who would target her car and that no one else had access to the vehicle. The victim stated that there was another vehicle parked next to her in Ramp A, but she could not remember the plate number for the vehicle. There were no witnesses to this event.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, police determined that the substance was lotion due to the odor. The lotion was spread out over all the windows of the car, the rearview mirrors, and the windshield on the driver’s side. There were no other new damages to the vehicle. The victim estimated it would cost $20 to repair the damages. Photos were taken of the damage by GRCC PD.
GRCC Police advised the victim that a report would be written and that she could follow up with the department with any new information. Police said they would also attempt to locate the owner of the other vehicle if it returned to the ramp. No further actions were taken.
Person accused of masturbating in RJF Hall first floor lounge
On Friday, September 15, at approximately 11:05 a.m., GRCC Police responded to a report of a person allegedly masturbating on the first floor of Raleigh J. Finkelstein (RJF) Hall. Police responded to the scene with the GRCC student who called the police. The student pointed out someone he said was the suspect.
When first observing, GRCC PD saw that the victim was sitting at a table in the first floor lounge area of RJF Hall. His hands were on top of the table as were a pile of papers and his phone. At no time did GRCC PD observe the suspect masturbating or engaging in any obscene behavior. In talking with the suspect, GRCC PD asked him if he had engaged in any self-gratification, and he said he had not. The suspect told GRCC PD that he was waiting to see an adviser at 11:30 a.m., which was confirmed by a sign stating that the office would be open at that time.
GRCC Police explained to the suspect what self-gratification meant, and he didn’t seem shocked at their explanation. GRCC PD then left without any further interaction.
