With COVID cases spiking at many universities around Michigan, Grand Rapids Community College is adding multiple resources to aid university students seeking alternative plans for the fall semester.
GRCC has created a hotline number, 616-234-4111, and an email address, Here4you@grcc.edu, to answer questions on enrollment, transferring credits back to a university, paying for classes, and financial aid. The fall semester begins on Aug 31.
“Students and families are making difficult choices,” GRCC President Bill Pink stated in a news release. “This might not be the fall semester they envisioned, but we will ensure they can move forward with an affordable, quality education.”
With GRCC being a cheaper alternative for undergraduate students, the college is trying to aid in providing students with access to an affordable education, to then transfer back to their universities.
GRCC is implementing a new financial aid hotline as well to aid students in filling out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students can call, 616-234-4030, or email any questions to financialaid@grcc.edu.
“GRCC is being relevant and responsive by providing educational options for our community,” Pink stated in a news release. “We have a streamlined, centralized approach to help students get the answers they need to enroll at GRCC and stay on track for college goals.”
To aid students in switching to hybrid and online courses, GRCC is offering loaner laptops and limited amounts of hotspots. The school is offering three different options for classes, online, hybrid, and on-campus.
Classes that are in person and hybrid could be switched to virtual instruction if there is another government mandated shutdown.
