Clothing construction and fashion design students at Grand Rapids Community College made and gave away quilts and bags as part of their Service Learning Project on Wednesday. Margie Erlandson and Susan Baglien, instructors in the Fashion Merchandising Department at GRCC, headed up the project to benefit patients at the Lemmen Holton Cancer Pavilion.
Most of the materials are donated to the department from outside the college.
“We provide the thread and the fiber fill and the students get donations for the front,” Erlandson said.
