
The Collegiate, Grand Rapids Community College’s student publication, was named Division 3 College Newspaper of the Year for 2016 in the Michigan Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.
The Collegiate staff won 19 awards that were announced following the MPA Gala held tonight at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids. Thirteen Michigan colleges submitted a total of 625 entries in this year’s contest. The following awards were won by The Collegiate Staff this year.
Former photo editor John Rothwell took home first place for Best Photographer.
Editor-in-Chief Kayla Tucker received first place as Best Writer.
